Cyclops- 20x26”
The cyclops in this painting is actually a Francis Bacon-Esque style portrait of New York painter Jean Michel Basquiat. The working title was “Heroin Is A Monster”. Basquiat famously overdosed from heroin and threw away his life and his illustrious career. Again this painting is a reflection of the psychology of a painter, this time being an exploration of the horrors of drug abuse common in the creative world. This painting is a part of a new series I am working on called the Rage Paintings. Hopefully, the creature depicted in this work can serve as a a cautionary tale. Humans are dangerous creatures and the blind cyclops is meant to represent the underlying monsters of the human psyche.
